'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is packed to the brim with some of Hollywood's most familiar faces. Jena Malone is said to play Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Batgirl instead of Robin as previously speculated while Eli Snyder and Scoot McNairy's roles are also teased by new rumors.
According to Screen Crush, the 'Hunger Games' actress will suit up as one of Batman's closest allies. Daughter to the fictional police Commissioner Jim Gordon, Barbara Gordon becomes the iconic Batgirl and fights alongside Batman against his numerous enemies. Barbara's other identity is The Oracle - a paraplegic computer expert providing hacking services to other superheroes after the Joker left her maimed.
When Malone was first seen on set, she was speculated to play another of Batman's sidekicks Robin. Robin may be known in popular culture as a boy but in Frank Miller's comic book miniseries 'The Dark Knight Returns' , the title belonged to a 13-year old girl named Carrie Kelley. However the article stated that events in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' may take place during a time where Robin is long dead.
Another article by Heroic Hollywood suggested that although Robin may be deceased, the character could appear in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' as a flashback scene. The article reported that director Zack Snyder's son Eli may fill up that role. The younger Snyder previously appeared in his father's films specifically '300', 'Watchmen' and 'Sucker Punch'.
Scoot McNairy was also cast in the upcoming movie however he stayed mum about the character he would be playing. According to Slash Film, he was first spotted on set wearing green socks suggesting some CGI action. He was rumored to be several characters including The Flash but these claims had been debunked and found false. Now, a new report suggested that he would portray Jimmy Olson.
An extra on set claimed, "Scoot is playing Jimmy Olsen, but with a bit of a twist. Jimmy was injured during the battle of Zod vs Superman. His legs where pinned under falling building rubble and that caused him to lose the legs. He now walks with the use of two prosthetic legs. He doesn't blame Superman for it [his loss of legs]. He feels grateful that Superman saved the world." Heroic Hollywood recently reiterated this through sources claiming the story to be true although no official announcement has been released just yet.
'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is an upcoming live-action comic book adaptation to be released on March 25, 2016. It is the sequel to 'Man of Steel' and will be the second movie in the DC extended universe.
