After the events of Outlander season 1, the series' beloved couple will be moving from Scotland to Paris, France to start a new life. If fans could recall, season 1 ended with the revelation that Claire is indeed pregnant with Jamie's child. This would then lead to her having to confront her husband Frank Randall. In addition, Claire will then be forced to come to terms with her parent's death for this season. Indeed, this season is turning out to be quite a Claire-centric one and the new updates for Outlander season 2 have revealed that Claire will have to go at her pregnancy alone, since Jamie is still having troubles with dealing with his trauma.
According to the Enstars' report, Claire's actress Caitriona Balfe mentioned how the couple might grow a bit distant with each other in this new season which would eventually lead Claire to deal with her pregnancy without Jamie.
Aside from Claire's crises, the actors themselves have confessed to feeling rather uncomfortable with the change in location. The International Business Times' interview with Balfe revealed that Balfe along with the other cast members of the show were so physically and emotionally comfortable with Scotland already. The transition to take the series to France was a bit difficult for all of them.
Fans of the series can certainly expect an entirely different series. The series' showrunner Ron D. Moore expressed that Outlander season 2 will be different due to the change in setting. From what Moore dubbed as the "Scottish mud" setting of Scotland in which the actors were always donned in dark and very thick wool garb, the change in setting to the elegant and pristine mood of France will certainly give the show a much more different vibe compared that to the previous season.
Christian Today further reported that Outlander season 2 will be based on the second book of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novel series. The second book entitled 'Dragonfly of Amber' will feature Claire and Jamie trying to find a means to end the Jacobite uprising while dealing with their own personal problems.
Outlander season 2 will premiere on 2016.
