With the Halo franchise sky rocketing an approximate $3.5 Billion in sales, almost in the same league as the Fast and Furious movie series, Halo 5: Guardians holds the pressure very close to itself. Being the first Halo game for the Xbox One, Halo 5: Guardians aims to not only make sales, but to recollect the wide society of top gamers to participate in its up and coming competitions.
As reported by NY Times, Microsoft is putting money up in order to drive the game ratings forward. They recently announced that they will allot a total of $1 Million as prize money for their Halo competition. This is practically the largest prize money ever dedicated for any Halo competition in history.
As for the console-related news, there will be 2 Halo 5: Guardians inspired controllers as announced by Microsoft that are already pre-order available, according to Game Spot. This is to give emphasis to the 2 playable rival characters, Agent Locke and Master Chief, with the controller similar to Master Chief's Mjolnir armor.
Canadian Online Gamers reported that the Xbox One Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Bundle will be made available on October 20, 2015. Despite the utter success of the franchise, some investors have already declared their doubts regarding the potential of the game's success in the past. Sundance DiGiovanni, Chief Executive of Major League Gaming was quoted, "We pulled back our investment on Halo. Audience numbers were going into decline. The community wasn't as engaged."
Even with the past lack of faith in the series, Halo 5: Guardians will push through with the mission, both literally and figuratively, as it hits the market by fall of this year.
