‘Community’ Axed After Season 6? Yahoo Isn’t Over Yet, Probable Movie Could Happen

"Community" has been axed after six seasons. TV star Joel McHale and comedian Ken Jeong shared the reason for ending the series. But for Yahoo, it isn't over yet.

In a long interview with Metro Weekly, "The Soup" host stated that all the casts' contracts expired after six years. He dished that all the actors' salary in the show increased that it can't even afford to hire Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs anymore. He added there isn't enough money for the show to be able to pay for the cast members'.

Another cast, Korean American stand-up comedian Ken Jeong also shared his view on the closing of the TV series.

"As it is with that show, I'm completely in the dark," says Jeong. "I would love to do a movie. Doing a movie would be amazing. Those guys on "Community" made me the actor that I am today. I wouldn't be here as a lead on my own show," according to Deadline.

To shed some light on whether "Community" will be finally saying goodbye on TV, Yahoo, which was streaming the series axed by NBC in May 2014 released their statement.

"We've seen tremendous value in our partnership with Sony and are continuing to discuss future opportunities for Community," a Yahoo spokesperson said in a statement to E! News.

At the height of confusion, creator and showrunner Dan Harmon shared to Hollywood Reporter that a movie is more likely to happen instead of a seventh season. It then popularized hashtag #sixseasonsandamovie among "Community" fans.

As of this moment, McHale is busy with hosting while Jeong is set to launch another comedy series "Dr. Ken."

The TV series was being run by NBC before it gave up and Yahoo assumed its streaming.

The undecided state of the series may end up disappointments for "Community" fans. There is no guarantee if Season 6 would be the series' finale. As of McHale's recent statement, there are still no confirmed words from Yahoo and Sony if the show will still be going on.

What do you think would be the fate of "Community?"
