Whoopi Goldberg defends Kelly Osbourne’s racist remark; Osbourne denies being a racist

Comedienne and talk show host Whoopi Goldberg went by Kelly Osbourne's side after the latter was criticized for saying "racist" remarks against Mexicans in the talk show "The View". Although Osbourne already apologized for her statements, she clarified that she was not a racist.

People reports, British singer Kelly Osbourne made a malicious statement on Tuesday over the talk show "The View" but actress, singer and show moderator Whoopi Goldberg was quick to defend her guest. Osbourne said, "If you kick every Latino out of the country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?" addressing Trump, a Presidential candidate, with regards to his recent statement about Mexicans in America who need to be deported because they make up for drug lords and rapists.

Goldberg clarified the following day that Osbourne only meant that Trump's recent statement would only hurt immigrant Mexicans who are part of the American voters. She added that sometimes people make mistakes on live television while trying to make a point but it does not make Osbourne a racist.

Goldberg's co-host Raven Symone, another Black American, adds that Osbourne could not be a racist because she was her friend, reports Daily Mail. Nicole Wallace, another co-host who was not present during the said episode, pointed out however that it was easy for Goldberg and Symone to make those statements because they were Osbourne's friends.

Meanwhile, Osbourne posted on Instagram on Wednesday that she is responsible for her "poor choice of words" but not for being a racist. She said she was stopped by actress Rosie Perez and was not able to finish her words though she does not take the blame on Rosie. Osbourne added that she should have known she was on live television and admitted she has learned her lesson. She ended her statement saying that she cleans her own toilets.

Just like other celebrities who made social blunders, Osbourne hopes that what happened could open up the issue on immigration and the Latin community.
