The 'Spider-Man' reboot is speculated to feature Kraven the Hunter as the film's main villain. Spider-Man's origin story is said to be most likely snubbed in the upcoming version.
One of the Spider-Man's enemies who haven't been introduced in film yet is Kraven the Hunter. He first appeared in the Marvel comic books on an August 1964 issue of 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. In the comics, Kraven is Russian immigrant and aristocrat whose real name is Sergei Kravinoff.
He has a strong penchant for the hunting game - leading to obsess over the act of defeating Spider-Man in order to claim the title of greatest hunter in the world. Seeing that he is one of the protagonist's longest-standing of foes, it isn't surprising that his possible appearance in the 'Spider-Man' reboot would come up among several other speculations.
Heroic Hollywood wrote of the likelihood in a recent article when their sources in Sony tipped them of a certain comic book purchase done a week prior. Writer Umberto Gonzales wrote that the Sony's Vice President of Creative Affairs, Karen Moy, recently got a hold of a copy of 'Kraven's Last Hunt' off of Amazon. It was unclear whether the purchase was merely for creative research or for something bigger than that. Perhaps, it was needed as a supplement for an already selected big-screen villain.
In another article by Screen Crush, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige previously announced that the villain in the upcoming film will be a brand new character never before seen in a cinematic release. This definitely favors the Kraven rumor.
Marvel may still be putting a tight lid over the reboot's actual plot but audiences may expect to see a young Peter Parker facing anxieties and insecurities as a typical adolescent in school.
According to Entertainment Weekly, writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein revealed in a recent interview in The Andy Greenwald Podcast that it would be unnecessary to portray Peter Parker's origins as Spider-Man as this had been told several times before. They would focus instead on Peter's life as a struggling teenager in high school.
The 'Spider-Man' reboot is set to be released on July 28, 2017 and will star Tom Holland in the title role. It is one of the numerous live-action adaptations of the comic book superhero of the same name.
