ABC finally announced the return of the Muppets to television. The show hints to have a new approach, like adapting the a mockumentary style narrative as shown in the teaser. Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will still be working together despite their recent split.

Toronto Suns report that during the recently concluded Television Critics Association press tour, ABC finally announced the return of the Muppets to television. A quick teaser regarding the Muppet's new show was revealed last July. The teaser showcased the Muppets'popular characters like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy wherein they were "petitioning" for ABC to start an all-new series on their network in a mockumentary style narrative.

Despite the recent break up between famous Muppets couple Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, the two will still be working together in this all-new series. The show, which will be giving viewers a behind-the-scenes peak behind Miss Piggy's late-night talk show, has been in the works for quite a long time now.

According to Toronto Sun's interview with the show's executive producers and writers Bill Prady and Bob Kushell, they've been trying to get the Muppets to make a television comeback for nearly eight years now. In the past, Prady confessed the timing was always off. However this time, due to its recent popularity after the release of its very own movie, the Muppets were finally given a chance to return to primetime television. Prady further added that the new show will still try to be as original as possible yet as writers, they will also attempt to make this series a little bit different in order to stay relevant.

Post Gazette says the show's other executive producer Bob Kushell also gave his two cents on the new show, saying that the all-new Muppets of ABC will surely be something both old Muppets fans and new Muppets fans can love and appreciate. The mockumentary style narrative of the show will give the impression that it is something completely fresh. Meanwhile, some of the traits of the older Muppets series which the producers will try to retain will hopefully give off a nostalgic charm for the older Muppets fans.

Regarding Kermit and Miss Piggy's recent split, NPR says that it has been announced that this change up in the Muppets relationship with one another is simply just one of the new things about the Muppets that fans of the franchise can expect in the new show. The producers further revealed that there will be other changes in the relationships of the various other Muppets with each other. Despite this, fans can rest assure that the Muppets will still retain the same old characters they've always had.

It has been announced that The Muppets will premiere its new show this fall on ABC.
