Good news comes for fans who are eagerly waiting for the season 5 premiere of the award winning political thriller television series, Homeland. The new installment is officially confirmed by Showtime to return on the small screens on October 4 and will pick up the storyline from last season.
According to International Business Times, filming for Homeland Season 5 started last June and this coming season, a new scenery will be introduced to the vieweres. Former CIA agent Carrie (Claire Danes) will find herself in Berlin, Germany working for a well known German philanthropist named Otto During. Carrie's new boss will be portrayed by Sebastion Koch.
Another character that will join Season 5 of Homeland is Alexander Fehling. Fehling will be the new love interest of Carrie who is also working for Düring Foundation as a legal counsel. Fehling's colleague, Sarah Sokolovic, will be cast as an American journalist including Mark Ivanir.
Christian Today added that Carrie will develop a bond with German intelligence which will become crucial as the series progresses. Claire will be interacting more with Miranda Otto, chief station of CIA Berlin, who will be played by Alison Carr.
During an interview by Indiewire wtih Linka Glatter director and executive producer of Homeland, the award winning director shares that Season 5 will be more shocking than the previous episodes. When asked about Season 5's storyline, she simply said cyberterrorism, ISIS, and Putin.
She also mentioned that Carrie will have a pretty normal life in the opening of Homeland Season 5. Carrie will have to make big decisions in life as she is also expected to carry a baby who will be named Cyrus.
Homeland Season 5 will premiere on October 4 at Showtime and is comprised of 12 new episodes with returning cast Mandy Patinkin (Saul Berenson), Rupert Friend (Peter Quinn), and F. Murray Abraham (Dar Adal) among others.
