According to the latest report, South Korean tech giants Samsung and LG dominate the Android smartphone sales in the US during the second quarter of 2015
Currently, Samsung and LG account for a staggering 78 percent of all Android sales in the US as reported by research institution Kantar Worldpanel. However, despite the Samsung famed market domination, LG has managed to double its share in the US market again. The Droid Guy highlighted that the report further mentions LG as the big winner mainly because of its latest premium flagship phone. "LG is the real success story of the quarter. Not only did it double its share of the U.S. smartphone market once again, but it was also able, for the first time, to acquire more first-time smartphone buyers than Samsung," shares Carolina Milanesi, Kantar Worldpanel ComTech's chief of research.
Furthermore, these two South Korean companies may be dominating Android smartphone sales in the US at the moment but results imply that these Korean giants might be soon threatened by China-based companies, Phone Arena said. Huawei is already making its presence felt on the US smartphone market. Also, other smartphone makers such as Xiaomi and Meizu have expressed their intention to officially sell devices on US soil at some point in the future. Of course, this scenario will be inevitable and one day Samsung and LG will start losing their grip over US-based Android smartphone sales. But before that day comes, Samsung and LG will already be on a strong footing for the Android camp in the US, Phone Arena explained.
Moreover, as reflected on the Kantar report, Android is generally doing extremely well across the globe. As Google and handset manufacturers continue to innovate, this platform will continue to rise in popularity, Talk Android speculated.
However, despite all that, Google will still have to compete with the upcoming iOS 9 and the next big iPhone this year.
