Director Guillermo del Toro and lead actor Ron Perlman revealed that they will not let go of the "Hellboy 3" without a fight.
For many movies, installments and franchises are proposed and eventually produced for success in the box office and for a profitable outcome. However, for Del Toro and Perlman, their drive in the third installment of "Hellboy" is more on finishing the hero's story, as reported by Cinema Blend.
"Let me make the record clear," Perlman said in an article on Slashfilm. "I don't want to do Hellboy 3. It's a pain in the ass to put that makeup on and take it off. But I feel we're obligated to finish the story. That's it. End of conversation."
It was no secret that Columbia and Universal turned down "Hellboy3." However, with the continuous push of fans led by the director and Hellboy himself in social media and Comic-Con, the movie might just happen.
"It would be amazing to do the [Hellboy 3] screenplay we talked about. And we better do it quick," quipped the director in a Yahoo! article."Ron is no spring chicken, and soon enough he's going to be Hellboy in a Barcalounger, changing channels, ordering from shopping networks."
Cinema Blend also reported how many Hellboy fans and enthusiasts admired Perlman's efforts and possible sacrifices in order to bring the big red hero back in the big screen mainly because of his need to give an ending to Hellboy's story.
The first "Hellboy" was able to gross approximately $100 million, while the second one garnered $160 million. Because of the two films' high budget, both barely crossed the profit line. Rumors are saying that Legendary Pictures might just sign up to take "Hellboy 3" under its wing if "Pacific Rim 2" turns out to be a box office success.
