Zac Efron is in talks to join Dwayne Johnson in Paramount's "Baywatch" comedy, which is based on the TV series from the 1990s.
Paramount's forthcoming Baywatch movie may have found another hunky star to kick off his perfect bod in the beach with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in 2016. According to reports from Variety, Efron is in talks and negotiations to portray the role a lifeguard in the film.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, which was the first to posted the news, Efron will play a young lifeguard with no interest in following the rules who join forces with a stalwart veteran (Johnson) to protect their beach from being destroyed by an oil maven.
It was said that Seth Gordon will direct the movie and "Friday the 13th" writers, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift have written the most recent script. Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman are set to produce the upcoming film. The production is to begin in early 2016.
Rumors about Baywatch adaptation have been spreading all over the online world for years now. And Johnson just finally confirmed the rumors last October, when he shared a photo of himself shirtless and sitting on top of a jet ski.
"The Rock" took to Twitter, stating, "'This is my beach bitch!' Rumors are true...we're making #BAYWATCH the movie," he captioned the pic. "Edgy, raunchy, and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach... #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha."
The "slo mo running" that Johnson's talking about, of course, is referring to the show's trademark action sequences. "That came about organically because we had no money," Hasselhoff told Men's Health of the slo-mo moves back in 2012. "We didn't have enough financing to finish the show. So we found a way to fill the hour by shooting people in slow motion", he added.
On the other hand, Efron just had his box office moments over the last few years, with movies from 2014 entitled "Neighbors" gaining $US150.2 million in the U.S. and $US268.2 million worldwide.
The hunky actor just recently wrapped the production on the Chernin comedy called "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates". He can be seen next in the Warner Bros. DJ pic "We Are Your Friends."
Zack Efron and "The Rock" fans may be getting really excited to see the actors hitting the beach shirtless and doing the "slo mo running" trademark of the movie.
