T-Mobile has finally release the official over-the-air update of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to its versions of Samsung Galaxy S5 following rumors of not cutting the software installation upgrade to the phone due to some issues.
The US major mobile carrier's Galaxy S5 is yet the only version to experience good things from Google. On the other end, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, and Sprint have not hinted anything official coming soon for the same model.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop stock firmware update comes with a fix solving widely known issues on Stagefright. Stagefright exploit has been sending off Android phone users with malicious messages which when opened might abuse camera, personal data and microphone.
According to user abuse reports sent to Google, almost 100 percent of Android-ran smartphones and tablets and other devices are vulnerable to Stagefright phenomenon.
Google's latest and reported to be the final update for Lollipop can be downloaded both over-the-air and through manual installation on Samsung Kies.
In terms of features and enhancements, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop brings in some other bug fixes and useful features and changes. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop's changelog shows the following:

Reports inform that the list of features and changes go on proving that Google is pushing a full blast Lollipop update before it will jump off to Android M which is due to release this fall. However, Google Developer remains silent about the news circulating in the media.
Aside from Galaxy S5, T-Mobile also is sending away Lollipop treatment to its versions of Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Not Edge, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update brings in also the same messaging security enhancements.
To check whether the Galaxy S5 has gotten the Lollipop update, head over to Settings > About phone > System updates. The baseband version should now be g900TUVU1FOG6.
