Agent Carter Season 2 features the clash between a female hero and a female villain as Agent Carter battles against Madame Masque.
Executive producer Tara Buttlers explains the need of having a female villain in cast to Slash Film as reported by Denofgeek yesterday by saying that having a female villain is as powerful as having a female hero since there is no enough like them on television.
The 1968 Madame Masque of Marvel Comics universe is being recreated by ABC to fit the time of Agent Carter. Since the series Agent Carter is set in the 1940's, villain Madame Masque has to be antiquated by ABC.
ABC's version of Madame Masque changes a little in character and in physique. From being just a daughter of a crime lord who follows her father's footstep in Marvel Comics, Madame Masque as a villain in Agent Carter Season 2 has a profession to cover up her plot. Madame Masque becomes a siren actress and a scientific genius according to Ibtimes.
Aside from adding a characteristic to Madame Masque, Buttlers also explains, as reported by Ibtimes, the need to remove a story of her life from the original Marvel Comics. The love interest of Madame Masque with Iron Man Tony Stark could not be integrated in the second season of Agent Carter because Tony was not born yet in the time of Agent Carter.
To transform Madame Masque's physique, the production team creates another less scandalous outfit suitable for her in 1940's than her original skin tight outfit. Also whether she wears a metal mask to cover her scarred face or not remains to be seen in the second season of Agent Carter.
Despite the necessary changes to Madame Masque's character in Agent Carter, ABC claims that she is still the expert markswoman, the skilled fighter, the master strategist and the robotics expert we have known her to be in Marvel Comics.
The actress behind Madame Masque is still unknown to this moment but actress Hayley Atwell remains to be Agent Carter and actor James D'Arcy remains to be the skinny Steve whom Agent Carter falls in love with even before he became Captain America.
Other villains are coming out in this new season but one thing is certain, Madame Masque is the greatest among them all. Witness the battle between Agent Carter and Madame Masque in Season 2 airing January 2016 on ABC.
