After years of waiting, Avatar 2 is in the works but might not be released anytime soon. Director James Cameron recently revealed that technology is the reason for the delay, and that fans will soon see the ocean ecosystem of Pandora.

Cameron already has his ideas ready for the upcoming sequels of the hit 2009 film, Avatar. However, it seems like the technology currently available is just not enough to make his visions real. According to Breathe Cast, the technology Cameron need will allow him to shoot underwater scenes effortlessly via motion-capture.

Aside from that, the new motion-capture technology is also set to help facial expressions improve. The latest lighting system will also reportedly allow the Pandora's jungle to be illuminated better in the frame.

Also, as reported by International Business Times, Cameron revealed that they are currently working on an ocean ecosystem for Pandora. "We're doing 'Avatar' films now, so we're making up an ocean ecosystem for Pandora. There isn't a direct map between the deep ocean exploration that I've done and the ocean stuff that we're doing in the 'Avatar' films," Cameron said

He also added that Avatar 2 and 3 will not completely take place in the waters of Pandora, however, it is a part of Pandora's environment that fans will see in the upcoming films.

Concerning the film's plot, Day Herald reported that Zoe Saldana who stars in the franchise as Neytiri previously revealed that the upcoming film will be emotional, and even shared that they even choked up when Cameron relayed it to them.

Saldana is set to return in Avatar 2 along with Sam Worthington as Jake Sully. It was also previously reported that the sequel will also see the return of Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, although, their characters died in the previous film. Avatar 2's release in December 2017 is very much being looked forward to.
