The war between the vampires and werewolves continue in the upcoming Underworld: Next Generation. Sony recently announced an official release date for the film that is rumored to center on Selene's daughter, Eve.
It was recently confirmed that the fifth instalment of the Underworld franchise will come to theaters next year. According Bloody Disgusting, Sony has finally given their films their respective release dates, and slated the upcoming film to hit theaters on October 21, 2016.
According to /Film, the upcoming movie will see the return of Kate Beckinsale as Selene, along with Divergent star, Theo James who is also set to reprise his role as David. The upcoming movie is also reported to focus on Selene and Michael Corvin's hybrid daughter, Eve.
The franchise is also set to experience a new first in the upcoming film. Anna Foerster is set to direct the film, making her the first female to direct in the franchise. She will be the first female director after Len Wiseman, Patrick Tatopoulos, and Måns Mårlind andBjörn Stein.
Aside from that, the film will also be Foerster's directorial movie debut, even though she previously worked in tv series' Criminal Minds, Unforgettable, and Outlander. Foerster also previously worked with Roland Emmerich as the director of photography for the films White House Down, and Anonymous.
According to Movie Web, filming for Underworld: Next Generation is set to begin in October in Prague with Foerster in the director's chair, and from the script written by Cory Goodman.
Although details about the film's plot is still being kept under wraps, reports suggest that the film will feature the next generation of werewolves and vampires continue the seemingly never-ending war between their races.
