'Deadpool' may have a planned sequel in the works and could steal the release date of 'Fantastic Four 2'. Deapool and Cable are also set to reunite in the planned follow-up film as well as a new comic book series coming up.
According to Polygon, Marvel is bringing the unusual pairing of Deadpool and Cable back to life in an all-new comic book called 'Deadpool & Cable: Split Second'. Writer/Editor Fabian Nicieza and artist Reilly Brown are reunited once more to bring back the Marvel tag team they made popular back in 2004. Nicieza described the six-issue series as a story of "love lost and love found."
He explained, "It is about struggling through a life of regret and struggling through the soulful tug of conscience that nags at us as a species, tasking us to ask of ourselves, 'Is this all I am? Is this all I can be? Do I have the courage to be more?... If we fail to answers those questions for each and every one of our readers, then we will have failed in our assignment."
Nicieza revealed that the comic book series will explore a long list of elements including time travel, bromance, mercenary action and the usual severed body parts. His partner Brown added that they were excited at the notion of time travel as this would enhance their storytelling prospects from the logical to the absurd. The brand new series will be released on October first as six-issue digital copies and will then be available in print format by December. The prints will come with two digital copies for each issue.
It's interesting to note that Cable, son of Cyclops and Jean Grey's clone as well as a character connected to X-Force and the X-Men, is also confirmed to appear on a planned sequel for 'Deadpool', according to Cosmicbooknews
Director Tim Miller mentioned in an earlier interview with Empire that to feature Cable in a follow-up film is an absolute must as he is the Merc with a Mouth's ultimate nemesis. Cable has been associated with Deadpool ever since the latter was hired to eliminate Cable and the New Mutants in the comic books.
According to The Daily Superhero, 20th Century Fox may be pulling out its planned 'Fantastic Four 2' release on June 9, 2017 in favor of putting 'Deadpool 2' in its place. After the lackluster response of the former in the box office, the studio may be finding it more favorable to capitalize on the surprisingly warm reception of the R-rated anti-hero movie whose red band trailer just debuted recently. As of present, it is still unknown as to whether Fox has already started development in time for the 2017 release date.
'Deadpool' is an upcoming superhero adventure film in the mainstream Marvel universe under the direction of Tim that is set for theatrical release on February 12, 2016. It is intended as a spin-off in the X-Men film series and stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role.
