‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Movie Updates: Creator Scott Cawthon responds to haters; 'Spook' director Gil Kenan to film game adaptation

'Five Nights at Freddy's' may have been a worldwide sensation for fans of the horror genre but the game's creator and developer Scott Cawthon had also his fair share of haters. Gil Kenan is also set to direct the upcoming movie.

Cawthon had recently spoken out against the bouts of hate and criticism in a post at Steam Community reminded people that he is only human. He said, "It's true that there has been a lot of hate toward me lately; on the forums, on youtube, etc. And I'll be honest, it's difficult. It's difficult when people seem to dislike you only because you've found success with something."

He wrote in response to haters who have been giving him negative attention after gaining success in such a short period of time. He continued to say, "I have a lot of flaws, and I've made a lot of mistakes. My games aren't perfect, and they never will be.

But something more important that I want to convey to all of you, is that you should never listen to people who criticize success simply because it's success. Being good at something is something to strive for, not something to demonize."

His honest post also included his humble beginnings prior to his recent triumphs in the gaming industry - working as a cashier or unloading frozen goods. Cawthon responded in the best way possible also acknowledging the generous support he had amidst all the negativity.

According to Kotaku, it may be that his detractors grew skeptic of all the recognition his series savored considering the crude design quality and simple plot line of the games. Four separate launches in less than a year appeared to them like a man cashing out on what seemingly was an overnight success.

On the upside, the film adaptation for 'Five Nights At Freddy's' now has director Gil Kenan on board. According to Deadline, the filmmaker, best known for his work on the Oscar-nominated film 'Monster House' and the 2015 remake of 'Poltergeist', had made the deal with Warner Bros. just recently. He will also join Tyler Burton Smith for the script.

'Fight Nights At Freddy's' is an upcoming horror movie based on the top-selling independent horror video game with murderous animatronic villains. The first game in the four-part series was released last August 8, 2014 and instantly became a cult favorite.
