The new Star Wars Battlefront installment received rave reviews and awards during this year's GamesCom that one would wonder if the Force will be with the EA DICE, its developer, once it's released on November 17.
For those who still haven't heard, the Polygon reported that the game won the Best of GamesCom Honor and took home PlayStation, console, PC and online multiplayer game awards as well. The game won the most awards - five in all.
This feat is quite significant, as the audience-turnout and participation (roughly around 350,000) during the conference might affect The Battlefront's "play" - gamers' reception and sales alike - once it's launched this November.
It might be no brainer for fans of the franchise why it had won the most awards in Gamescom this year.
1. For starters, iconic characters in the famous Star Wars trilogy will have their debut as not just static heroes and villains, but players can battle it out at the Battlefront as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, or Boba Fett. Or, gamers can be an ordinary Rebel Alliance soldier or an Imperial Storm Trooper.
2. Players can also choose among and engage in multiplayer modes (as mentioned in its official website) - Walker Assault (40 players), Fighter Squadron (20 players), and Blast (20 players) battles.
In Walker Assault, Rebels and Empire soldiers battle it out on a snowy terrain. In Fighter Squadron, on the other hand, the ultimate dogfight ensues up the skies. Gamers can engage in fights aboard some of the memorable vehicles used in the Star Wars trilogy films, including X-wings, TIE fighters, the Millennium Falcon and more. Blast mode is a fight to the finish among 10 Imperials and 10 Rebels. This might be the ideal death match for Star Wars fans.
3. The epic battles take place in scenic and vast planets - Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and Sullust.
4. Add to these are the weapons which range from regular to heavy blasters - DH-17, DLT-19, E-11, and A280C. These weapons were just a handful (shown during its gampeplay demo in E3 2015); as compared to those which are in the game itself.
Based on mixed reviews regarding gameplay and advanced graphics, as mentioned in Expert Reviews, overall, EA and DICE may have truly outdid themselves. After all, they were trying to do justice to the famed Star Wars films.
The Star Wars Battlefront will be available for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
