'The Affair' season 2 is reportedly adding two more point of views (Cole and Helen). However, the 4 perspectives may make viewers more confused, as the actors themselves were reportedly puzzled about the new material. The next season's storyline is going to dig deeper into the murder of Alison's son.
'The Affair' season 2 will premiere on October 4, 2015 with few changes. It has been reported that the new season will add Cole and Helen's perspectives. While the 4 perspectives could possibly add clarity to the whole story, it may lose viewers. In fact, actors themselves are pretty much puzzled about the new material given to them.
Actor Joshua Jackson revealed in an interview with TV Critics that the new material made them confused. He said, "It puts the audience and frankly us actors in a crazy space all the time," he said. "We grapple with this literally every single day."
But creator Sarah Treem defended 'The Affair' season 2's 4 POVs. She said to Entertainment Weekly, "We show from different POVs, different parts of their lives and then we'll move to another and it will be three months later and you'll be left to fill in the gaps."
"We're not doing it to make sure that everybody understands it perfectly," said Treem. "The POVs are integral to the show ... Neither side is right, neither side is wrong, but in the conversation between the two lies the truth."
Treem also promised fans that the four perspectives will be filtered by the end of the season 2. The season 2 finale may also finally answer the murder mystery in season 1.
Additionally, Collider reports that 'The Affair' season 2 will focus more on the murder mystery that was not quite discussed last season. As per story description, "Noah (Dominic West) was arrested at the conclusion of Season 1 for the hit and run (while already wrapped up in his new life with Alison, played by Ruth Wilson), and it seems like that case is going full steam ahead."
