Gil Kenan's "Five Nights at Freddy's" will use an entirely different storyline from the game, as well as real animatronics. While the upcoming movie still has no official release date yet, it is expected to open in cinemas by 2017 at the latest.
Following the acquisition of Warner Bros to the rights of the video game series' big screen adaptation, news has emerged that the upcoming film may stray its plot from the original storyline. While the film will present the same premise as the successful indie horror video game, Touch Arcade reports that it will feature an entirely new story. During a Q&A on Twitte, "Five Nights at Freddy's" director Gil Kenan revealed that the movie will not only center on Freddy but on all animatronics as well.
Interestingly, Kenan also revealed that he wants to use real, full-size animatronics in the movie rather than Computer-Generated Imagery which is very common in the industry today. As per Christian Post, he even posted a few photos of the animatronics characters that the fans will be seeing in the upcoming movie adaptation. With the game's mythology, place and theme that for him, are perfect to be adapted into a film, he hopes that the result will change the trend of video games being turned into not so well-received movies.
"Five Nights at Freddy's" is a popular video game series that was created by Scott Cawthon. Its events take place in a Chuck-E-Cheese-like restaurant where an animatronic animal becomes a killer at night. According to Deadline, its upcoming movie adaptation will be helmed by Kenan, who will also be writing the script alongside Tyler Burton Smith. Roy Lee will reportedly produce the film with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg while Adam Stone and Jay Ireland will executive produce.
The studio has given no specific date yet for its release but it is predicted that the upcoming movie "Five Nights at Freddy's" will be rolled out by 2017.
