Fantastic Four 2 in the works; Fox, new director to continue and retain Josh Trank's ideas

Despite the not so pleasant reception on the first movie from fans, Fantastic Four 2 is still expected from Fox. A new director might be hired for the sequel but Josh Trank's ideas are expected to be retained and new changes are likely to be implemented.

The numbers currently linked with Fantastic Four are not desirable. According to Screen Crush, the gross for the current Fantastic Four has not even made it to half of the weekend gross of the previous films, even though the previous films were also disliked by many fans.

But even with the recent unsuccessful attempt, Fox is reportedly pushing through with its planned sequel. According to Yibada, Fox recently announced that they are still moving ahead with Fantastic Four 2, although it might not be able to meet its previous scheduled release of June 09, 2017.

A new director is likely to be hired for the sequel, but it was also noted that the new director's visions must be integrated into Josh Trank's ideas. However, according to Cinemablend, it has several possible story arcs that can be explored by the new director.

The new director can reportedly utilize the scenes that were cut from the first movie. Aside from that, there were a couple of b-rolls from the previous movie that were not used, such as the scene where Reed Richards' Fantasti-car was featured as well as Richards' relationship with Sue Storm that never blossomed into a romance. Also, the new director can explore more in the characters given the little character development presented in the previous film.

Reports suggest that fans are likely to see the return of the present cast, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell in the big screen for Fantastic Four 2. Moreover, details are expected to be revealed as production for the sequel progress. Fantastic Four is currently out in theaters.
