'Fast and Furious 8' leading man Vin Diesel posted a series of photographs on his social media account that included fellow cast members teasing the possibility of ongoing development for the new film. Cody Walker, Paul's real life sibling, was also rumored to debut in the new film as Brian O'Connor's younger sibling.
According to Enstars, he recently posted a still of himself as Dominic Toretto and co-actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson portraying Detective Luke Hobbs from 'Furious 7' on his Instagram account. It was stated in a previous report that Johnson specifically expressed his desire to return as government bounty hunter and Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agent. He also relayed the possibility of a spin-off involving his character Hobbs as protagonist.
He said, "We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see... I talked to Vin today - we had a nice discussion - and I think whatever it is, whatever we come up with for 'Furious 8,' we have to raise the bar, in terms of action, yes, but also in terms of story and character."
In a separate article by Classicalite.com, Diesel posted another photograph of him and Kurt Russell on-set on Instagram. It looked to be his character and Russell's Mr. Nobody engaged in discussion and captioned "Toretto Tuesday". This prompted a new wave of speculation that Diesel may be hinting at an ongoing production for the next sequel. Russell revealed in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that his character may be signed on for a few more films in the franchise in the future.
He said, "I got an idea, a sense of what Vin maybe wants to do in the future that this character could be a good part of. We created somebody that I think is, you know, he's a mystery man, he's 'Mr. Nobody' we never know his name and you never know quite what world he's in and I think that's what's fun and exciting about it."
So far, only the returning cast of Diesel, Johnson, Russell and Jason Statham have been confirmed. It is highly likely, however, that Michelle Rodriguez will be back as well as Eva Mendez.
According to Digital Spy, there had been rumors of Paul Walker's brother Cody to be cast as Brian O'Connor's younger brother. The 27-year old Walker stood in as a body double to complete some of his late brother's scenes in 'Furious 7' after the latter's demise on November 30, 2013.
'Fast and Furious 8' is an upcoming film in the 'Fast and Furious' action franchise set to be released on April 14, 2017. It is said to follow the events of the most successful film in the series 'Furious 7'. In total, the franchise grossed more than $3 billion worldwide since its establishment on mainstream media in 2001.
