Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be available on August 21 but before hitting the stores worldwide take a closer look of what the phablet looks like and how it runs compared to other topnotch phablets in the tech department.
Learning from how the Mobile World Congress 2015 turned out, Samsung is greatly infusing wisdom to the recent Unpacked event showcasing another flagship devices-the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. As its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge had taken the MWC by storm, the South Korean tech titan is debuts new materials and design for its latest offering.
What does Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is bringing with and how it performs in contrast to LG G4 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus. Here's a quick rundown:
S Pen and Fingerprint Scanner
First off, S Pen as strongly rumored in the past few months, completes Note 5. Its build is longer and more efficient to use that the previous ones.
According to Samsung, Note 5's S Pen has an improved pressure sensitivity and writing performance. Samsung also allows instant writing on the display without heading over to quick notes.
The fingerprint scanner is also designed for a more advanced security performance and a more efficient Samsung Pay experience.
Android and TouchWiz Operating System
On board the phone's release, Galaxy Note 5 runs Google's latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Along with the 5.1.1 Lollipop is the latest and more advanced touch interface TouchWiz Nature UX 5.0. This Android-based Samsung-owned operating system also runs three Galaxy devices including Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Tab A.
TouchWiz features new themes like icon changer and wallpaper. It also adds a camera flash as a torch to the drop-down menu. Camcorder, camera shutter and screenshot module have also been altered. The camera app no longer shows the current video's file size.
This touch interface also ditches the device's ability to create or extract ZIP-Archives with the Native File Explorer. TouchWiz also allows users to use the camera app of Samsung to live stream on Youtube.
Color, Display and Build
Reminiscing the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge's design and materials, Note 5 as well sports generally a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 front panel and a metal rear chassis. Because of this features, what used to be a removable battery is no longer removable while microSD card support are done with.
The screen display measures 5.7 inches with a Super AMOLED display and high definition resolution. Having the same size with Note 4 and Note 3, Samsung sees it unnecessary to make larger phablets that is already bulky to hold as Note 5 was made slimmer now navigable using one hand. This thinner build also helps users enjoy the device's curved back.
Galaxy Note 5 is available in four colors including black sapphire, white pearl, and gold platinum. Color variants' availability may vary however.
Processor and Storage
An extremely sophisticated smartphone or tablet in physical details is nothing if it is not running on a killer processor. Galaxy Note 5 is too lovely to have it all. The device runs on octacore Samsung Exynos processor, the same processor S6 has. Meanwhile, it also rocks a 4 GB of RAM and an external capacity storage of 32 and 64 GB.
Battery and Wireless Charging
The battery is as strong as expected running at 3,000 mAh. Although smaller than Note 4's, Note 5 gets edgy with its charging capacity that includes Micro USB 2.0, adaptive fast charging, Qi wireless, Powermat wireless and fast wireless charging.
Camera
Note 5's camera is not that new as it wears only a 15 MP rear shooter and a 5 MP front shooter. Not bad at all. The rear camera allows slow motion video capturing.
