EA declares the real deal regarding Mirror's Edge Catalyst.
One of the first few concerns in making Mirror's Edge Catalyst was whether the fans would actually be into the game or not. Recently reported by Engadget, the game itself was somewhat a risk or gamble for EA. Knowing that the first game was a true success, Mirror's Edge Catalyst needed to go "all or nothing" upon its creation.
Senior Producer for Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Sara Jannson, was quoted, "We have big plans on what we want to do after this and moving ahead. But I really do think that if this doesn't fly -- if people don't like this game -- there's really no reason to keep building on it."
In a nutshell, the money, time and effort that was put into Mirror's Edge Catalyst was more than enough to cause anxiety for the developers, in terms of the game's future.
In terms of the game's story, Mirror's Edge catalyst was highly debated upon, as to whether it will be a prequel, sequel or a reboot. The back story of Faith is the plot that the game is undertaking, therefore, the previous events of Mirror's Edge are still inexistent.

Eirk Oeldahl, Design Director of Mirror's Edge: Catalyst directly stated that the game is in fact, a reboot. As reported by IGN, the developers took from the first game the most admirable variables and brought it to Mirror's Edge Catalyst.
The protagonist, Faith, first-person free-running / Parkour gameplay, and finally, the aesthetics that they have built on are the key points that they have carried over to the upcoming installment.
February 23, 2016 is the date to await for Mirror's Edge Catalyst. With the following attributed being questioned, the gamers and fans are the only real answers to what the game's future will hold.
