'Bill and Ted 3' mainstay Alex Winter continues the fan hype by calling the latest film in the franchise funnier than the previous two. William Sadler, who played the Grim Reaper in the second film, expressed his interest to join Winter and Reeves as returning cast.
Winter, who plays Bill in the comedy series, spoke with The Next Web about his thoughts on starring in the third film again. According to Screen Rant, he admitted that his character is more than a mere portrayal on screen. Bill is practically part of his life. He said, "It's exciting to come back to the characters.
The fun thing about them is that they're ageless. You play them in terms of who they are spiritually. Their mannerism and physicality are not tied to age. We played them like 9-year-old kids. They still have that quality. The comic potential of that becomes even better as it becomes more discordant. It will be funnier because they're older."
Winter recently directed a documentary entitled 'Deep Webb' with 'Bill and Ted' co-star Keanu Reeves as narrator. The two are set to return to the big screen as the slacker duo after two decades since the second film's release in 1991.
Fellow 'Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey' cast member William Sadler expressed his enthusiasm for a chance to return to the hilarious franchise during an interview with The Hollywood News. "I would do it in a heartbeat," he said.
He revealed a tip from Winter that the Grim Reaper is included in the script currently in the works and that the biggest hurdle for the creative team so far is how they can produce a story even after George Carlin's passing. Carlin's character Rufus was considered an important part of the series.
Another report from Cinema Blend suggested that another issue delaying 'Bill and Ted 3' could be budget-related. Reeves admitted in a past interview that the new film would need around $150 million and this could pose a problem. It is too expensive for the revival of an old mid-level franchise. It was suggested that if investors will be hard to come by, a script change would likely augment the situation.
'Bill and Ted 3' is part of the popular late 80s-early 90s science-fiction buddy film franchise that quickly escalated into a classic cult favorite remembered even until today. The franchise spawned television spin-offs, animated series, video games, comic book series and even theme park events.
