The forthcoming "Gears of War 4" will be returning to the franchise's classical horror roots. The upcoming third-person shooter video game is set for an initial release on Q4 2014 for the Xbox One.
Unlike the previous "Gears of War" video games, the latest instalment will be "something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious" just like the "Gears of War" originals. The first hint fans had received of this update came from the teaser trailer which The Coalition, formerly known as Microsoft Vancouver and Black Tusk Studios, released during the E3 2015 in Los Angeles. According to Game Spot, the company released a 7-minute world premiere demo for the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.
Following the teaser trailer, The Coalition's studio head Rod Fergusson, confirmed that the game will indeed resemble the "Gears of War" originals. "We're going back to something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious, being afraid of the boogeyman," he told IGN in an exclusive interview. Also referring to the teaser clip, Fergusson said: "We always thought of it as a tease. People expected a flash of logo and a Marcus poem, and we wanted to overshoot that. Why not do a tease that speaks to the mood and the tone of the game?"
Having said that, avid gamers can expect the original "Gears of War" horror chill - "that sense of mystery, things going bump in the night," as Fergusson described -incorporated with the game's advanced war setting.
On other updates, Franchise Herald reported that the third-person shooter video game will include two new characters - JD and Kait. According to reports, the characters have no significant resemblance with war veteran Marcus Fenix, previous "Gears of War" protagonist. As for the release dates, The Coalition has not made the official announcement just yet, but some reports already claim for a holiday release.
"Gears of War 4" will be exclusively available for the Xbox One. It is expected for release sometime December 2016.
