The 1986 cult classic movie "Troll" is set to be revived as an animated film and television show titled "Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter Jr." The newly confirmed projects will have the newcomer Baxter Barlett as the voice of Harry Potter Jr., and Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette as a witch character. The series will premiere on 2016, followed by its big screen release in 2017.

Long before J.K. Rowling's first book was published, the "Harry Potter" name was already popular, having been used in the '80s horror film "Troll". For those who are not familiar, the film "Troll" premiered in 1986, focusing on the Potter Family that includes the patriarch, Harry Potter, and his son Harry Potter Jr. Three decades after its premiere, the right-holders to the franchise are set to bring back the iconic characters on screen with the newly announced revival titled "Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter Jr."

The original film's director, John Carl Buechler, has agreed to co-produce the 3D animated feature film with Peter Davy. According to Coming Soon, the new movie will revisit the world of wizardry wherein a wicked, magical troll wizard envisions taking over the world. In collaboration with a magical witch, the titular boy will save the planet from the commands of the threatening entity and his evil force.

Child actor Baxter Barlett will be voicing Harry Potter Jr., a character that was previously portrayed by Noah Hathaway ("The Never Ending Story"). Joining him is the Academy Award-winning actress Patricia Arquette ("Boyhood"). The Wrap reports that she has already signed on to voice a witch in the upcoming movie. The rest of the cast is yet to be determined.

"Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter Jr." will reportedly open in cinemas sometime in 2017. As for the TV series, it is expected to go into production soon for a broadcast next year.
