Former "Spider-Man" actor Andrew Garfield says he is at "peace" with Sony's reboot and calls his replacement, Tom Holland, a "brilliant" actor. The upcoming reboot of the web slinging superhero is slated to open in cinemas on May 2017.
Ever since Sony announced that Tom Holland ("The Impossible") will be the new Peter Parker, many fans have had second thoughts about its upcoming reboot. However, former "Spider-Man" actor Andrew Garfield seems to be quite fine about it. According to the actor, being able to portray the character was a "mixed bag" and a "blessing", having done it twice with incredible artists. "And now I get to let it go, which is actually a really lovely thing," Garfield told E!. "I'm very kind of at peace with it. It ran its course."
The 31-year-old actor is noted to have portrayed the wall-crawling superhero in 2012's "The Amazing Spider-Man" and its 2014 sequel. When asked about his replacement in the Spidey suit, Garfield has expressed his enthusiasm saying Holland is actually a "brilliant" actor. "I can't wait to watch," he said. "I just can't wait to be a fan again and just watch and enjoy myself watching."
Prior to Garfield's revelation, other "Spider-Man" alumni have already expressed their support in Marvel and Sony's reboot. As previously reported, "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise director Marc Webb has already revealed that he is psyched about the upcoming movie. Also, the original trilogy helmer, Sam Raimi, stated he is optimistic about where the studios will be taking the web slinging character this time.
"Spider-Man" reboot is directed by Jon Watts ("Cop Car") based on a screenplay written by "Vacatation" writers John Francise Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Holland's Spider-Man is slated to make his big screen debut in next year's "Captain America: Civil War", before appearing in his own standalone film on July 28, 2017.
