Ben Stiller's Derek Zoolander is still intellectually challenged in his return to the big screen after 14 years of absence in Zoolander sequel (2oolander or Zoolander II).
In the release of the trailer for" Zoolander 2" earlier this week, Stiller reprises his role as infamously intellectually challenged, supermodel Derek Zoolander. The teaser showcase a Stephen Hawking-like voice narrates the beginning of existence, leading to one crucial moment. Derek Zoolander wondering, "If God exists, then why did he make ugly people?"
In an Inverse article, male models were asked about the stigma of being a gorgeous and ridiculously good looking model and the satire used by Zoolander. The cosmic stupidity isn't real, they insist; at least not entirely. Michael Elmquist, a model and photographer who works for Levi's and Patrik Ervell, is a little aggravated that models are seen as idiots who love themselves. He said: "I'm not saying that's always wrong, but a person who models is just a human. Every individual human - model or not - has the capacity to be somewhere between a dickhead and a kind person."
Torbjorn "Bjorn" Merinder said that Zoolander shows a side of the industry that's very real, but it is not the only side. As for models being dim-witted, there are various, like in all other professions. It was confirmed that the models will not boycott the sequel.
The sequel had materialized after 14 years from the release of Zoolander in 2002. The teaser is only one of the many promotional tricks the studio has set for the immensely anticipated film. Stiller and Owen Wilson have hit the Parisian catwalks as Derek Zoolander and at the Valentino show in Paris in March this year.
"Zoolander 2" has a huge challenge on how to penetrate the young audience who are less aware of the prequel given that it was released 14 years ago. But given the countless changes to celebrity culture, and the fashion world, since 2001, there's a great chance for Stiller, and screenwriter Justin Theroux, to skewer the selfie-taking, Instagram-obsessed world that Zoolander will now find himself in.
It will be a no-brainer for Derek Zoolander to create a stir and make fans go raving on "Blue Steel." In the age of the selfie, the ridiculous has become commonplace, and it is a sure hit to see "Magnum" at least twice a day on Facebook alone.
