'Fast and Furious 8' actor Vin Diesel may have accidentally revealed the film's working title during an acceptance speech at the 2015 Teens Choice Awards. Ludacris signed on and excited for April 2017 release.
According to The Independent, Diesel dropped the possible title of latest action-adventure film 'Fast and Furious 8' when he took to the stage with fellow actors Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges for the Choice Action/Adventure movie award at the TCAs last August 16, 2015. He dedicated the honor to departed friend and co-star Paul Walker.
He said, "I can't stand here and be rewarded like this without talking about somebody very, very, very important to us... One of the best blessings in our lives is the fact that we had the opportunity to call Pablo our brother. Paul Walker is here in spirit with us... I love all of you. I love all of you, and until Fast 8..." Perhaps he didn't mean to drop its working title, but media outlets caught the slip just in time to fuel more speculation among fans as they await more news.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, rapper-turned-actor Ludacris who plays Brian O'Connor's friend Tej Parker in the franchise exclaimed that the eighth movie is definitely happening and scheduled to shoot for next year. He also said that they are aiming for an April 2017 release. When asked if he was excited to go back on set he added, "I'm excited to continue making her (daughter Karma) proud and continue to put food on the table!"
It was earlier reported that Diesel announced the April 14, 2017 premiere date. According to an article by The Verge, Diesel went public at the 2015 Universal CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The plot and setting of the eighth movie remain unknown as of present however it was previously rumored that the film will take place in New York City.
Gary Scott Thompson was tagged to write the screenplay, Diesel and Neal Moritz to produce, and returning cast members include Diesel, Bridges, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. No director has been named yet and it is unclear if female leads Michelle Rodriguez and Eva Mendez will be reprising their roles as Letty Toretto and Agent Monica Fuentes respectively.
'Fast and Furious 8' is an upcoming film in the 'Fast and Furious' action franchise. It is said to follow the events of the most successful film in the series 'Furious 7'. Through the years since its first film's debut on 2001, the seven films grossed more than $3 billion worldwide.
