After the lead single from the new album by 5 Seconds of Summer was released, fans of the band reacted on social media about the song's familiarity. And now, the all boy band explained why their single most likely sounds familiar to their audience. Also, a band member most likely admitted ripping off the new album.

Fans of 5 SOS seem to express their sorts of reactions about the song's familiarity. Fans took to Twitter posting comments on its resemblance with My Chemical Romance "Teenager". Some fans were thrilled, but some were turned off by how the two songs are alike. Shana Runglall said, "i can't be the only one who hears teenagers by my chemical romance in she's kinda hot ???"

Just recently, 5 Seconds of Summer explained why the two songs sound alike. In a recent interview with Billboard at the Teen Choice Awards 2015, 5 SOS member Michael Clifford clarified the rumors. He said that the song's structure and key made the fans think that "She's Kinda Hot" sounds similar with My Chemical Romance's "Teenagers." He stated,"That's just because of the 12- bar blues," Clifford said, explaining on the rumors that they ripped off the album. "I think it might be in the same key as well," he also added.

Clifford also expressed disappointment when some fans pointed out how 5 Seconds of Summer's songs should sound. He said, "People were like, You guys should sound more like My Chemical Romance. Then we do sound like My Chemical Romance and people are like, Why the f--k do you sound like My Chemical Romance? Ugh!"

According to Tone Deaf, 5 Seconds of Summer made headlines back in December. They told Fairfax that apart from being a boy band, they want to be in charge of bringing back rock and roll to radios. "Starting in a garage and writing our own songs and playing them in pubs to 10 people; I don't think being called a boy band does us justice as a band," Luke Hemmings stated.

However, the Sydney boy band recently won the award for Worst Band at the NME Awards 2015 in Austin, Texas. Some critics say that this award suits the band really well since it doesn't have originality. On behalf of 5SOS, Clifford took to Twitter in response, saying, "Won the NME worst band award. I'm so damn happy right now. thx to everyone who voted."

Currently, "She's Kinda Hot" is the lead single from 5 Seconds of Summer's album Sounds Good Feels Good, which is set to release on Oct. 23. 5SOS also launched "Fly Away" with iTunes pre-orders and debuted the track "Permanent Vacation" live. On the other hand, My Chemical Romance called off the band in 2013.
