Lupita Nyong'o calls her "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" role a "blessing". The Academy Award-winning actress reveals her character, Maz Kanata, will not be seen until the movie opens in cinemas this Christmas.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Lupita Nyong'o has been blessed in the past two years with a lot of career achievements which a lot of veteran actors in Hollywood are still aiming to accomplish today. Not only did she bagged an Oscar for her very first feature film appearance in Steve McQueen's "12 Years A Slave", she has also been locked to one of the most popular franchises ever -"Star Wars". At the D23 Expo, the actress expressed her delight in being a part of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". "To be able to have that experience and the continuation of Han Solo, and Luke, and Leia's journey is really a blessing, to be able to play a small part in that," she said.
Unfortunately, there will be no behind-the-scene freebie that will feature the actress in her official Maz Kanata look in the coming months. ""Well, the easy part is you don't get to see me until you see the film", the 32-year-old actress revealed. "All you get is dots on my face." Screencrush notes that the teaser photo of Nyong'o only features her in the capture technology device as she is playing a computer-generated character. Her Maz Kanata is said to be some kind of an authoritative alien smuggler who lives in a castle.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be the seventh installment of the popular epic space opera franchise. As previously reported, it is slated to star John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, with original trilogy stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker reprising their roles from the previous films.
Directed by JJ Abrams, "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" is scheduled to premiere on December 18.
