After Dr. Dre's biopic "Straight Outta Compton" was shown last week, his ex-fiancee Michel'le and ex-girlfriend Dee Barnes spoke out on the rapper's abusive past. It was emphasized that the incident was omitted in the said biopic.
Rapper Dr. Dre's and other NWA (Niggas wit attitudes) members Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella's biopic "Straight Outta Compton" premiered last Friday, August 14. According to Jobs & Hire, the film received positive reviews. However, Dr. Dre's exes did not seem to be convinced. Dr. Dre's ex-girlfriend Dee Barnes says the life of NWA was tweaked. The TV host also mentioned about the rapper's abuse on her in the past. Barnes stressed though, that she did not want to see her story of being beaten up by Dr. Dre pbecause it would be heavy for the general viewers. It can be remembered that Barnes filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre and NWA in 1991 for the group's depiction of women.
Michel'le, a singer, Dr. Dre's former fiancée and the mother of his son on the other hand, talked about not being mentioned in the biopic, reports Paper Mag. She understood though that the film was not just about Dr. Dre but other rappers as well. Michel'le was also a victim of Dr. Dre's abuse.
Dr. Dre meanwhile has admitted some mistakes in is life just recently. The Muse quotes the rapper in a tell-all interview as saying that he was "young and stupid". The rapper clarified though that while there are accusations that happened, not all of the stories was true. He said he has paid for the mistakes and would not repeat them again.
NWA became a controversial group in the late 80's towards the 90's and until now, its history especially that of Dr. Dre's and his exes Michel'le and Dee Barnes has remained an open secret.
