Oxygen OS 2.0.1 Update Guide: Official OTA Release for OnePlus 2 Brings Stagefright Solution

OnePlus 2 is getting a sweet treat beginning yesterday with its first update Oxygen OS 2.0.1 bringing the much-coveted solution to the Stagefright vulnerability issue plus a good number of changes and features one cannot imagine receiving for now.

As it was announced on its support page, OnePlus is officially releasing the first over-the-air firmware update for its OnePlus 2 devices. According to the page's post, key improvements were listed in its changelog that includes the Stagefright fix and battery performance improvements.

Stagefright attacks have been notorious as 95 percent of Android-ran smartphone and tablet users are affected by this. It operates through a bug sending a video message using messenger apps like Google Hangouts and Whatsapp. When the user clicks that message, the worst thing can happen the user knowing it. Stagefright attack can destroy all stored data on your phone.

1. Stagefright vulnerability patch

2. Battery performance improved

3. User interface logic and coherence improved

4. Pinch-to-zoom issue in Google photos fixed

5. Apps instability when in Dark Mode fixed

6. Issue on import/export of contacts stored on SIM card fixed

7. Support for global carrier APNs added

OnePlus noted that the Oxygen OS update does not end here since there are still a few other tweaks and fixes available for OnePlus 2 devices.

Oxygen OS 2.0.1 is at 1.1 GB, and it comes in stages. Note that the download might take for a moment since servers are slow right now. If not automatically notified by OnePlus, head over to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for update.

Oxygen OS 2.0.1 is first made available in India. The page noted that the rollout will come not at the same time.

"This OTA will be rolling out incrementally, starting in India, so it may take some time before the update reaches all OnePlus 2 devices," the page reads.

OnePlus 2 smartphone was launched during the first virtual reality launch event. It rocks a 5.5-inch screen display. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C port. It has a 13 MP rear camera and a 4 GB of RAM, not to mention the 3,300 mAh battery.
