Rapper Dr. Dre has issued an apology to three women he has hurt in the past. The accusers spoke about the omission of the rapper's abusive past after the release of NWA (Niggas Wit Attitudes) biopic entitled "Straight Outta Compton" two Fridays ago.
In a statement, Dr. Dre admitted that he had been drinking too much 25 years ago though he said it was not an excuse for what he did, reports Gawker. He went on to say that he was young and had no direction in life. He apologized for the women he has hurt and showed remorse, aware of the effects what he did brought to him and others lives. Being married for 19 years, Dr. Dre said that he has started to change to be a better man with the help of his family.
Rapper B, Theresa Murphy in real life, was one of those assaulted by Dr. Dre that she even wrote a song about his behaviour entitled "Ruthless Bitch". Dr. Dre confronted her after hearing the song first in a club and punched her eye and mouth.
Singer Michel'le and hiphop journalist Dee Barnes were also those who spoke out about Dr. Dre's abuse, says New York Times. Michel'le is the mother of Dr. Dre's now adult son. Miche'le talked about how her complaint that has not been heard for a long time now.
Meanwhile, according to Daily Mail, Apple came to Dr. Dre's defense saying that they believe that Dr. Dre is a changed man. Apple bought Dr. Dre's headphone and music streaming company Beats Electronics. Dr. Dre is also a consultant of the company.
"Straight Outta Compton" is a biopic about the controversial rapper group NWA who rose to fame in the 80's to 90's. Dr. Dre is one of the founding members of the NWA crew.
