The boyband reportedly decided to take at least a year out to focus on solo projects and will not tour their upcoming fifth album. After Zayn Malik decided to have his solo career, diehard Directioners dealt another blow. Reports claimed that the world famed boyband will go their four separate ways in March 2016 after the release of their fifth album.
One Direction is now made up of Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, after Zayn Malik left the band. Now, the four members mutually settled to take at least a year long break from the band to pursue their own projects.
A source close to the boy group told The Sun newspaper's Dan Wootton, "The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband." He also added," They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision."
The Dailymail UK reported that the group made the decision during crunch discussions in London last weekend and their final show will be at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on October 31. The members of the well- loved band have some work commitments in February and will take their break in March.
With the devastating news popping out just five months after Zayn Malik quitted the group and the surprising broadcast that Louis Tomlinson will become a father next year, fans have been working through their emotions on social media and they were left devastated following a series of disappointing reports, according to Mirror UK.
Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace is confused by the One Direction news and took to Twitter "Wait. What? @onedirection are splitting up? I feel confused & lost lol WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!!!?? Thoughts people? #OneDirection." Directioners also poured out their emotions on their tweets. @AshleyJames " Please, don't do this to us.. Guys! There's only meant to be ONE Direction not five?"
Just a few weeks ago, Liam Payne insisted the group desperately needs some time out. He implied that the band was planning to take some time off following the release of their fifth studio album later this year. During an interview with Free radio, Payne made clear, "You know, I think everyone needs a little bit of a break now, and a sit down and a stop, to kind of take in all the great things that've happened."
Even though the news reports had not yet been cleared out by the boyband's management, it seems like Simon Cowell and his team at Syco reportedly couldn't be more excited about the album despite their decision to take a break.
It is thought the record will be released at Christmas and their new track Drag Me Down went straight to number one on the Official Singles Chart. The lads are yet to comment on social media about the split up news and their representatives have declined to comment on tabloids.
