Samsung Galaxy A8 is the latest mid-range smartphone offering of the South Korean tech titan but analysis reports underscores that Galaxy A8 is not your ordinary phone since it boasts features unexpected for a mid-range phone.
Display
Released earlier this month, the Galaxy A8 veers away from the conventional Samsung design for mid-range phones taking the cue from Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. At the forefront, the phone rocks a fingerprint scanner and a 5.9-millimeter thick build.
The display sports a high-end-like 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution.
The phone's material is made of dull metal edges and plastic back panels. The bezels are thinner than its predecessors. The home button stays on its original location only incorporated with the fingerprint scanner.
Fingerprint Scanner
While integrated into the home button, the fingerprint scanner is primarily used in locking and unlocking the device for stricter security. By doubling tapping the button, the camera quickly launches for quick shots.
Design
The phone has MicroSD slot and two SIM slots inside which support 4G networks. When a single slot is used for 4G however the other slot will only have 3G high.
System and Performance
Samsung Galaxy A8 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC for all variants across the globe except units in India which will use Samsung's own octa-core Exynos 5430 SoC. The battery has powerful 3,050 mAh capacity.
The phone is running with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with the company's latest TouchWiz touch interface. This US allows users to customize more personally their handsets.
Camera and Storage
A8 sports a 16 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front shooter. It carries 2 GB of RAM while its internal storage is expandable from 32 GB to 128 GB capacity.
Price
Galaxy A8 costs a little cheaper than Galaxy S6 at US $150 to 200.How ver, in India it costs a little higher than the other regions.
