'The Justice League Part 1' director Zack Snyder has big plans for the future of DC's live-action cinematic franchise and admits his planned involvement even after the release of the superhero team-up film. Green Lantern is said to appear in the film and may play a key role.
According to We Got This Covered, Snyder revealed that the script for the first part of the back-to-back 'Justice League' installment is already complete. The filmmaker worked on the screenplay with Oscar-winning writer Chris Terrio and will proceed to make the second part's script as well.
He described the artistic process in so few words, "Chris would talk and I would draw it, and it was basically this weird mural of the movies with no words." He also admitted that he will definitely continue his involvement with DC's shared universe to secure its continuity for the next couple of years.
Snyder already has three DC films lined up beginning with 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', followed by 'Suicide Squad', then 'Wonder Woman' and finally 'Justice League Part 1'. The first two will be released in 2016 while the remaining will follow in 2017.
In another article by Cinema Blend, leading man Henry Cavill who plays Superman in the franchise the DC Cinematic Universe is indeed one big interconnected web leading to something magnificent in the end. He said, "There's a big plan in place at WB for the whole DC franchise. So, all of this stuff ties in.
They're not thinking from movie to movie, they're thinking from a big tent pole type thing and each story has its own story, which is attached to the major issue. Yeah, there's a big plan." It was also speculated that the events in the shared universe will lead to one final showdown with a powerful supervillain called Darkseid. This character is equivalent to Marvel's Thanos.
Brainiac is also another supervillain teased to make an appearance in future planned films, according to Nerdist. The fictional supervillain is one of Superman's greatest enemies apart from Lex Luthor and is typically depicted in the comic books as an extraterrestrial android or a green-skinned humanoid.
Snyder hinted at Brainiac in a previous interview saying that he could appear in a Superman standalone follow-up. It was also speculated that he could be the main villain in the first 'Justice League' film.
'The Justice League Part 1' is set to premiere in theaters on November 17, 2017. It will feature a massive superhero line-up including Henry Cavill's 'Superman', Ben Affleck's 'Batman', Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, and Jason Momoa's Aquaman. Amy Adams will also be returning to reprise her role as Superman's love interest Lois Lane.
