Foo Fighters counter protest Westboro Baptist Church protesters with a Rickroll

By

The Foo Fighters band rickrolled the Westboro Baptist Church who protested during their concert in Kansas City, Missouri during the weekend. The band counterattacked the protest by playing Rick Astley songs in the most divine way.

Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters members overpowered a rally of the Westboro Baptist Church. The rallyists were holding up signs that read "God Hates Proud Sinners" and "Special Law for F---", reports TMZ. The band loudly played Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" and Green Day's "American Idiot" while in a pick-up truck before their gig. Rickrolling is when people are tricked to watch Rick Astley's video through hyperlink. Drummer Taylor Hawkins also had a sign that said "You Just Got Rickrolled Again".

Foo Fighters also rickrolled Baptist protesters in 2011 in the same city by wearing costumes and singing "Keep it Clean". NME reports, Foo Fighters knew that the protesters would be around during their concert on Friday and decided to just rickroll them instead.

According to Rolling Stone, before singing "My Hero" Dave Grohl spoke to the audience on that same night that they are dedicating the song to those who stand up and speak their mind for what is right which they believe they are also doing. The crowd cheered, surrounded the truck and clapped as the band danced.

Foo Fighter's next gig will be on September 5 and 6 at the Milton Keynes Bowl together with Iggy Pop. Their next concert will be on September 8 at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium where Royal Blood will open the show. Just recently, the band called off their European tour last June after David Grohl sustained a broken leg at a show in Sweden.

Despite protests, Foo Fighters will just rickroll their way on anyone who does not approve of their songs.
