‘Avengers: Infinity War Part 1’ Updates: New soul gems could be in Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Doctor Strange’

'Avengers: infinity War Part 1' will most likely feature Adam Warlock's Magus supervillain in addition to Thanos making an appearance. Two other soul gems needed for the Infinity Gauntlet may well be in Benedict Cumberbatch's 'Doctor Strange'.

According to We Got This Covered, casting for Adam Warlock's evil side, the Magus, may well be underway in Los Angeles, California as a casting call had been dropped for the character. It was previously speculated that only Thanos would battle against the team of Avengers but now it seems another threat will be introduced in the upcoming epic superhero team-up.

Should Marvel follow the plot line in the comic books, audiences are bound to see the Magus emerge to wreak havoc and create evil doppelgangers of the heroes using the Infinity Gauntlet leading to the conception of a universe of evil. It is possible that character Adam Warlock himself will not be featured but instead appear as his malevolent alternate version.

Josh Brolin's Thanos made rounds online as an official clip from 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' had recently been uploaded, according to Cinema Blend. Fans can now re-watch the scene from the recent Marvel film released just last May 1.

The clip showed a tyrannical supervillain reach for a gem-less Infinity Gauntlet inside a vault and then saying, "Fine, I'll do it myself." Thanos was expressing displeasure at how his subordinates Loki and Ronan the Accuser failed to procure the soul gems for him.

It was reported that the Mad Titan first made an appearance in 2012's 'Avengers' post-credits scene and then in complete form in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. He then made a cameo at the end of the recent 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' hinting at a full feature as the main villain in 'Avengers: Infinity War'.

In the comic books, Thanos is a mutant member of the superhuman Titanian Eternals. He is bestowed omnipotent powers such as extraordinary strength, matter manipulation, telepathy and telekinesis as well as fighting prowess acquired from his warrior heritage.

He later became infatuated with Mistress Death and sought impress her by gathering an army of villains for the conquest of worlds. To be able to do this, he needed the six soul gems.

An article by Movie Pilot linked the possibility of two new soul gems hidden in 'Doctor Strange'. Producer and Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed the upcoming film's significance in the interconnected franchise saying that it was the most important movie being planned.

He said at CineEurope, "(Doctor Strange) is very, very important, not just because it's an amazing character study, and a journey of a man who's gone from this very arrogant surgeon to somebody who is quite zen and literally keeps all of reality together on a daily basis, but it also is going to open up a whole other side of storytelling for our movies."

He reportedly hinted at the red Reality Gem that had similar abilities to that of a Cosmic Cube but more powerful. It was also rumored that the green Soul Gem may be in Sorcerer Supreme's possession mainly because this was so in the comic books. It is also possible that the orange Time Gem may also be under his control since he certainly engages in time travel.

'Avengers: Infinity War Part 1' is an upcoming superhero film directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The first part will be the sixth film in MCU's Phase Three and is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 4, 2018. Part 2, the ninth in the MCU, will follow on May 3, 2019.
