The custom ROM update is approximately 256 MB in size and was touted to bring a new personalization features, performance improvement fixes, and enhanced battery life. However, before jumping right into the boat, IB Times has listed some of the things to know about the ROM update to optimize the enhancement's performance.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is applicable for the international LTE 2014 Samsung Galaxy Note4 models with serial number SM-N910F only. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 should also be previously rooted before the update.
The memory of the phablet should also be cleared so backing up is always advisable. To make sure that everything is backed up properly, install the Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/TWRP in the device. USD installers on the PC is also vital in the update, if this is left out, the PC will not recognize the Galaxy Note 4.
The device also needs at least 80 percent of battery life to make sure that the update will be finished. This part is important to make sure that the device will not be bricked in the event it device's battery will drain out while performing the update.
Lastly, by doing the ROM update, Samsung will be exonerated from all liabilities if the phone will not function, the way it should, once the update is done. If the following laundry lists are crossed out, you are now one step clear in performing the custom ROM update.
Going now to the update itself, it is vital to follow the step by step process of the procedure to avoid any damages or bricking of the phablet, Android News Center pointed out.
The first step to do is to download the SOKP Android 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM. Once the custom ROM is downloaded, connect the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to the PC using the USB cord. Place the update (Android 5.1.1 Lollipop) zip record and Google Apps .zip record in the phablet's SD card. After that, turn the phablet off and undo it from the PC.
Once the phablet is turned off, perform the unchanging Recovery Mode duty by pressing (and holding) the Volume up, Home and Power buttons, simultaneously. Once done, select the wipe cache partition option. Proceed to ClockworkMod recovery and select 'advanced' and daub 'wipe dalvik cache'.
The next step is to go back to the main recovery screen and then select or tap install zip from SD card, then proceed to Android 5.1.1 ROM .zip file in SD and enter the installation process. Do the same for the Google Apps.
The last step of the process is to navigate Go Back and restart the phablet by opting reboot system now as seen in the recovery menu. It will take a few minutes to complete the booting process, after the phablet is turned on, go to settings and select About Phone to check and confirm if the installation of SOKP Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM is done.
Once the update is successful, the first thing you should notice is the device should be working properly as it should, and as what Team Android listed on their website, the following improvements should be present in the device.
First off would be the phones improved and optimized Status Bar such as the Clock & Date with custom definable location and styles, Customizable Status bar Battery icon with percentage, and Status Bar Brightness control, to name a few. Another improvement would be the phablet's Quick Settings and its Animation Controls.
The Navigation Bar, Hardware Buttons, Power Menu, PIE Control, Display Settings, Live Display, Gesture Anywhere & vApp Circle Bar, Recent Panels, Sound & Notifications, Security & Lock screen, and Other Options should also be present.
With the recent release of Samsung's current flagship devices, the Galaxy Note 4 can be considered as old, but with the SOKP Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Custom ROM update, it will surely keep up with its younger and fresher brothers.
