Judging from the big blow happened last season, 'Law & Order: SVU' season 17 will have some turnarounds. In fact, showrunner Warren Leight has been dishing the exciting storylines for the upcoming season. One of which is the story about transgender teenager, which may open the doors for the inclusion of the transgender stars like Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox.
With the exit of the beloved character of Danny Pino, 'Law & Order: SVU' season 17 will bring new topics to be tackled. One of which is about the transgender community. In a recent interview, Leight said they are planning to talk more on "dark areas." And, they are currently working on a story about a transgender teenager.
According to Enstarz, the show is known to draw inspirations from the current news and trending topics. And it seems like the writers of the show were inspired by the celebrity transgenders Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox.
Caitlyn, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, became the buzz in the Hollywood when she finally came out as a trans woman. 'Orange Is The New Black' star Laverne Cox, on the other hand, was the first transgender person to produce and star in her own TV show 'TRANSform Me'.
However, the rumors of the two trans women joining or guest starring in an episode of 'Law & Order: SVU' season 17 are yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Amanda Rollins has to go through a lot next season after the departure of her partner Detective Amaro. According to Christian Today, there will be lots of issues she will be dealing, especially the problems from the past. To make things more complicated, her mother and sister are coming for her in Season 17.
In an interview with TVGuide, Leight revealed that, "Even if their intent is to be supportive, and I'm not even sure it is, her family showing up is not a great thing for her - nothing good comes from seeing her sister or her mother."
