It's been months since Charlize Theron and Sean Penn cancelled off their engagement. She adopted a new kid after breaking up with her fiancée. Charlize named the little girl August. She was seen going up with her pals, having a low-key lunch out, but it couldn't be denied that the actress is reportedly weeping behind close doors.

Although it has been claimed that Charlize, 40, left her fiancée through ghosting. The term that Huffington Post claims as a way to completely cut off contact with another person. According to the news site, it's how the South African beauty ended up her romance with Penn, 55 to avoid confrontations.

It is believed that Charlize and Sean thrown the towel back in May after their European holiday. Rumors have it that the 40-year-old "Prometheus" star was handling the split heavy. She's smoking up a storm and has been seen haggard most of the times for the latest reshoots of Penn's "The Last Face."

A source told August 31 issue of Star magazine through Classicalite that the actress has been hooked on smoking up to two packs of cigarette daily.

"Charlize is always talking about quitting...In fact, it's a rule that no one can smoke around her kids. But since she and Sean broke up, she's been smoking like a chimney."

"She's coughing and looks haggard, but no one is giving her a hard time over it yet."

An insider working at the set of "The Last Face" reshoots revealed that the mother-of-two usually comes in the set looking like she cried a night before.

"She shows up on set with a puffy face, looking like she's cried through another sleepless night!

"This has been hard on her...but Charlize has been a pro about it all."

Charlize and Sean have known each other for decades, but started their relationship in December of 2013. The ex-couple has kept their relationship low-profile since then, but UsWeekly reveals that they got engaged in Paris. The 40-year-old actress previously dated Irish actor Stuart Townsend for nine years. Sean was married to Madonna for four years from 1985 to 1989. He divorced his ex-wife Robin Wright, whom he was married for 14 years.

Meanwhile, Charlize just recently filmed her latest movie "Dark Places" and recently finished reshoots with Penn's movie in South Africa in July. The actress is mother to four-year-old Jackson, whom she adopted from her home country in 2012.
