Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will be rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note Edge devices in the United States very soon after the much-awaited Marshmallow upgrade gets launched in September. The latest Lollipop update to Galaxy Note Edge carries with it a several tweaks and performance optimization.
U.S.'s major mobile carriers Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T have already confirmed that indeed they are coming to the latest update but exact date has not been announced yet. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop brings bug fixes, Advanced Calling features, wallpaper options, battery drain patch, and improvement in camera app.
Other Samsung smartphones and tablets that have already received the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop are Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, and Galaxy Note 4. Samsung's latest revelation Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 comes with the latest firmware when it came out of the box.
Meanwhile, Google released a patch since last August 5 in almost all Samsung Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Note Edge, to solve the notorious Stagefright security threat.
In Canada, mobile carriers have been kind enough to release first the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Galaxy Note Edge devices than the rest of the world. The update was made available through an over-the-air release which is expected to finish before the month of August ends.
If the device is notified ready for upgrade, just tap "install now" and follow onscreen instructions. When automatic notification has not reached the device yet, wait for Samsung to update it since the installation process comes in stages. Or, simply head over to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for update. Make sure the device is charged to at least 80 percent to prevent interruption.
The clamor for the update has been strong in the Northern American region since 50 percent of a strong 630,000 Galaxy Note Edge population across the globe are located in the U.S. and Canada.
