"Castle" Season 8 will be featuring a new character and it is said to be a bundle of joy for the whole cast of the series as Ryan, played by Seamus Dever, and Esposito, played by Jon Huertas, are to have a baby. This was confirmed by the showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter.
In an interview with TV Guide, Hawley and Winter shared that the Ryan family is expecting another kid but it will make him paranoid. However, he will be more excited to make more money in order to suffice the needs of his growing family. The co-showrunners teased, "When he sees Beckett rising up in the ranks, the boys realize it's time for them to start looking at their futures, which is going to create some tension and conflict between them."
Becket will be promoted as the head of the station and the incoming baby of Ryan and Esposito might hinder Beckett, played by Stana Katic, and Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, from having a baby of their own. With this being said, it just proves all the more that the arrival of Hayley, played by Toks Olagundoye, will not be a threat to the relationship of the two.
Hawley pointed out that it was not their intention and the break-up of Castle and Beckett is not going to happen in "Castle" Season 8. However, the two will be facing some problems as Beckett's promotion will be affecting them. Hawley shared, "Now, it's about exploring the next evolution of it. How do we deepen that love story? What challenges can we put their way that can put their romance at a much higher, different place?"
Speaking of Hayley, Christian Post reported that her role will be an inspiration and a mentor to Castle's daughter, Alexis. Hayley will be helping her find herself as the teenager would look at the newcomer as an older sister.
According to Design & Trend, Hawley explained about the role of Hayley in "Castle" Season 8 and shared, "We like the idea of her as a mentor to Alexis in a way that Beckett has been, but because she's also Castle's wife, ultimately Hayley can play a little bit more of an older sister."
"Castle" will be back on September 21 on ABC.
