"The Hangover" actor Zach Galifianakis has landed the role of The Joker in "The LEGO Batman Movie", Warner Bros' spinoff of "The LEGO Movie". The upcoming animated film is scheduled to open in cinemas on February 2017.

If the anti-hero movie "Suicide Squad" has Jared Leto as The Joker and the animated film "The Killing Joke" has Mark Hamill as his voice, "LEGO Batman" has also its own actor for the Clown Prince of Crime. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Zach Galifianakis is already in final talks to voice Batman's iconic archenemy. He will be joining Will Arnett who is reprising his role as the Dark Knight from "The LEGO Movie"; as well as Michael Cera who recently boarded the project as the hero's sidekick, Robin.

The 45-year-old actor is known for appearing in a few comedy flicks including 2010's "Due Date", 2012's "The Campaign", and "The Hangover" trilogy. He most recently appeared as Jake in Alejandro G. Inarritu's Academy Award-winning movie "Birdman". Though Zach is more notable for his live-action performances, he also has a good resume in voice acting. According to Cinema Blend, he played the role of Humpty Dumpty in Chris Miller's "Puss in Boots" and was able to portray a few episodic characters in television shows like "Bob's Burgers", "The Simpsons", "American Dad" and "Trip Tank".

As per Superhero Hype, Chris McKay who worked as the animation supervisor of "The LEGO Movie" is taking over the directorial baton for its spinoff. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who helmed the original movie and are currently developing an animated version of "Spider-Man" with Sony, are producing alongside Dan Lin. The upcoming film will feature a screenplay that is currently written by "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" scribe Seth Grahame Smith.

"The LEGO Batman" is expected to hit the big screen on February 10, 2017.
