A rape lawsuit was filed against NBA star Derrick Rose by his former girlfriend. The Chicago Bulls star's lawyer says the complainant only wanted Rose's money.

The lawsuit filed on Wednesday stated that the victim was drugged and gang raped by Derrick Rose and two of his friends in Los Angeles in 2013. According to Deadspin, the defendants were actually 13 all in all.

The complainant related that the defendants drugged her drink on August 2013, went into her apartment and gang raped her. She added that even before the incident happened, Rose, who had been her boyfriend since 2011, had been letting her perform sexual acts that made her uncomfortable.

The complainant did not go to the police because of embarrassment and fear of retaliation. She lost her job because of the effect the incident had on her making her unproductive. The lawsuit stated that the complainant experienced emotional stress, post traumatic-stress disorder, severe physical injury and other damages. The lawsuit asks a civil penalty of $25,000, an award of money judgement for severe emotional distress, anguish and mental pain, as well as other damages depending on the judge.

Meanwhile, Chicago Bulls refused to comment yet on the issue since they do not know all the facts, it said on Thursday.

Rose's lawyer meanwhile says that the accusation was false, had no basis and that the complainant just wanted to ruin the basketball player's career. Sydney Morning Herald reports that according to Rose's spokeswoman, the complainant was in a consensual relationship with Rose for more than two years.

TMZ reports, this is the third time that the plaintiff hired a lawyer for the case. Rose's lawyer believes that the case will be dismissed.

Derrick Rose's relationship with his former girlfriend ended for over two years now and his camp is determined that they will not let others shake down the highly respected and successful athlete.
