The members of the Mayans Motorcycle Club might be riding again as different reports have surfaced saying that Kurt Sutter, "Sons of Anarchy," creator is working on a spinoff of the series. It will reportedly center on the said motorcycle club.
According to CNN, Kurt Sutter talked about the possible project when he was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter. Just a recap, the Mayans was the rival of California Motorcycle club in the heroin distribution business. The Mayans was led by Marcus Alvarez, played by Emilio Rivera. "Sons of Anarchy" ended in late 2014 with a record-breaking 9.2 million viewers.
The "Sons of Anarchy" centered on the life of Jax Teller, played by Charlie Hunnam. His father was the president of SAMCRO and the show focused on what Jax feels about the organization.
According to The Christian Science Monitor, if there will be a "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff series, it might be as successful as that of other AMC show such as "Better Call Saul" and "Fear The Walking Dead."
Accordingly, Sutter is already in the early stages of developing the spinoff series as per report of Entertainment Weekly. The details, however, have not been released yet regarding which characters from the original series will be seen in the spinoff.
This is not the first time that a spinoff for "Sons of Anarchy" was teased. He previously talked about it during last month's 2015 San Diego Comic Con. He shared that it might be a limited series on FX but has not divulged other information. FX, on the other hand, does not want to confirm if the spinoff is a prequel or a sequel of "Sons of Anarchy."
Sutter is reportedly to be the executive producer of the spinoff and he is currently looking for a showrunner. He also does not have a writer yet and that he is busy with his new show "The Bastard Executioner." The "Sons of Anarchy" possible spinoff series will be co-produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
