A recently leaked "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Abu Dhabi set footage reveals Rey and Finn's escape scene from the First Order Stormtroopers in what appears to be the marketplace of Jakku. The seventh installment of the space opera franchise is scheduled to open on December 18.
With roughly four months left before its scheduled premiere, more and more leaks from the production of "Star Wars 7" are floating around online. Recently, another one has made it on the internet. But this time, it is an unofficial on-set footage from the movie which according to Making Star Wars, was taken from the film's Abu Dhabi set. The 2-minute video which was removed on YouTube seems to have been secretly filmed by an extra.
While much of the leaked clip is shaky and unclear, the surrounding can still be distinguished as a marketplace in the desert planet of Jakku. As noted by Fansided, two figures dressed as Finn and Rey rush passed the camera as small explosions begin to pop up. Though the clip has a poor audio, Jason Ward of Making Star Wars claims that he can hear Rey screaming "Let go of me", with Finn responding "We gotta get out of here". A group of First Order Stormtroopers then appears in the frame chasing the escaping pair.
"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" is set 30 years after the events of "Return of the Jedi". It is slated to feature a new generation of heroes and villains, as well as the return of the iconic smugglers, princesses and Jedi. Directed by JJ Abrams, the movie will star John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. As previously reported, original trilogy stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker will also be reprising their roles from the previous films.
Meanwhile, the video is not the first on-set footage that has illegally made it on the internet. A few months back, a clip of Luke Skywalker that was filmed on Schellig Michael, a remote island located at south of Ireland, has also been leaked online. While both provided a wobbly and poor quality look at the movie, the fans can get a clear and official one when "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" hits theaters on December 18.
