'Underworld 5' will feature Tobias Menzies as the new Lycan leader Marius. He will star opposite Kate Beckinsale in the newest film of the action-horror franchise. Scott Speedman and India Eisley may return to reprise their roles as the hybrids Michael and Eve, respectively.
According to Deadline.com, Menzies is all set to star as the major and enigmatic character Marius, leader of the Lycan clan. The new werewolf head is reported as a new threat to their opposing vampire enemies although it is still unknown whether he will be a friend or a foe to Beckinsale's main vampire protagonist, Selene. The television, theater and movie actor is known for his roles as Edmure Tully on HBO's 'Game of Thrones' and as Black Jack on 'Outlander'.
In another article by FashionNStyle.com, Speedman may be back to reprise his role as Selene's Lycan/Vampire hybrid lover Michael Corvin. Although his character was referred to a number of times in 2012's 'Underworld: Awakening', he wasn't physically involved in the filming and was only appropriated with stand-ins and previously archived footage. He did admit that he may return in future films saying that if his part were dynamic and important enough he would jump back in.
Eisley, who plays Selene and Michael's daughter, Eve, is also speculated to reprise her role in 'Underworld 5' as she is a rumored cast member in the list in IMDB. According to Zombie Apocalypse, the fifth installment may focus on Eve along with newer generation vampires and Lycans. Eve was first introduced in the preceding film as a hybrid like her father Michael.
'Underworld 5' is the latest film in the commercially successful vampire-lycan franchise which will likely be released on 2016 or 2017. It is rumored to be under the running title, 'Next Generation', that could hint at new characters played by younger actors. The first film in the series was released back in 2003 and tells the story of Selene who works as a Death Dealer, killing Lycans in revenge of her slaughtered family.
